A unique feature that Land Rover has is its continuous monitoring. However, there are three colors that every owner of this vehicle must remember. Red means stop when as soon as possible or when it’s safe. Amber means that something needs to be done in your car. And lastly the color green, which is just an indicator and nothing is wrong.
RED
1. BREAKING SYSTEM
When the car engine has been switched on, there will be an indicator on the dashboard that resembles an exclamation point. This indicator will appear if the car’s transmission is parked or the handbrake has been pulled out. However, if these symbol keeps flashing even when your vehicle is running, there may be some issues with the breaking system of your car.
2. BATTERY
Once the vehicle’s ignition has been switched on, a battery symbol will flash on the dashboard. The light should go out right after the engine has been turned on. If the battery symbol doesn’t show on the ignition, there may be some problem in there.
3. SEATBELT
Another safety precaution symbol that can be found on a Land Rover dashboard is the seatbelt. There will be a seatbelt symbol flashing on the dashboard and a beeping sound. This is to remind the driver to put on their seatbelts while driving.
4. ENGINE TEMPERATURE
When the engine’s temperature is too high, the engine temperature symbol will flash on the dashboard. This can cause overheating if not checked by a mechanic right away and it may even result in more complications in the engine.
5. EXHAUST FILTER
The exhaust filter illuminates the three colors. The color red will flash on the dashboard once the filtration system is complete or there is something wrong with the filter. Once you see the flashing exhaust filter symbol in red, stop immediately and contact your trusty mechanic. It will be noticeable once it flashes, as there will be a beeping sound.
6. LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
If this feature is active or has been turned on, the driver will feel a vibration in the steering wheel. This happens when the directional lights aren’t used before changing lanes.
7. DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID
The exhaust DEF will turn red when the level of DEF is too low. This warning indicator will light up if the DEF reservoir also runs dry. Lastly, the symbol will also flash if there’s an incorrect fluid.
8. TRIANGLE CRITICAL WARNING
This symbol will indicate once your vehicle detected something critical. The instrument panel will also show what is wrong with your vehicle and why this symbol appears.
9. OIL PRESSURE LEVEL TOO LOW
The oil pressure level indicator will appear if the engine oil level is too low or running dry. Immediately switch off the engine once safe and check the oil pressure level. If the indicator is still appearing, it’s time to contact your mechanic.
AMBER
1. AIRBAGS
Once the car ignition has been turned on, the airbag symbol will appear. Contact the car dealership or a mechanic if the airbag symbol doesn’t disappear after 6 seconds.
2. ABS
The ABS or Anti-Lock Breaking System will appear after the car ignition is switched on. This means that the ABS is active. However, if the ABS symbol is still flashing on the screen, there might be a problem with the braking system.
3. CHECK ENGINE
The check engine symbol usually appears briefly after the car ignition. But if it stays while the vehicle runs, there might be an emission-related problem.
4. DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL ON/OFF
The DSC will be active to prevent your vehicle from wheelspin. The instrument will tell the problem if there’s a DSC problem. No rush about stopping since the vehicle can be used but DSC is inactive.
5. HILL DESCENT CONTROL
When the HDC has been selected, it will keep flashing on the dashboard when it enters a steep descent.
6. EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE
This indicator will show if the temperature outside is too low and a warning for a snow build-up.
7. FUEL WARNING
When the fuel level is too low, the fuel indicator will start appearing. It will warn you to take the nearest gas station and fill up your tank.
8. FOG LIGHTS
Both front and rear fog light indicators will flash on the dashboard when the fog lights are switched on.
9. TYRE PRESSURE
When one or more tire is under-inflated, the tire pressure monitor indicator will start flashing on the dashboard.
GREEN
1. HIGH BEAM ASSIST
Land Rover has an automatic high beam assist that will flash on the dashboard once switched on and automatically turn off to avoid disturbing other drivers on the road.
2. CRUISE CONTROL
When the cruise control is turned on, the indicator will show up on the dashboard.
3. DIRECTION INDICATORS
Direction indicators will turn on when operated, whether left or right.
